Police drone spots missing woman’s bright pair of trainers in woods
A missing woman from Mansfield was found when a pilot with a police drone spotted here “bright pair of trainers” in the woods. On Monday afternoon, the Nottinghamshire Police were called following concerns for the safety of the missing young woman.
The police department used their police drones to survey the town and the dense woodland near Quarry Lane, Nothinghamshire Live reports.
On the second drone flight the pilot noticed a flash of white sticking out from underneath a tree. Using the strong zoom lens on the drone, the operator was able to confirm that it was a pair of bright trainers being worn by the missing woman.
After receiving support from police officers on the ground, the young woman was taken to a local hospital.
“We were really concerned for this young woman’s welfare and really needed to find her as quickly as possible,” PC Sarah Weller, from Nottinghamshire Police’s missing from home team said. “Thanks to the drone we were able to locate her in a very dense area of woodland that would have taken ground-based officers a very long time to search. In situations like this our drones can quite literally be a life saver so I am thankful to the team for conducting such an effective search and helping us to keep this person safe.”
