D-Hive Drone Network Approved for Launch in Antwerp-Bruges Port
The Port of Antwerp-Bruges, together with their partners Dronematrix, Skeydrone, and Proximus, have been given the green light to launch their drone in a box network, known as D-Hive.
One of the implications of this is that automated drone flights will soon be conducted every day in the Belgian port on a BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) basis, which will be a world-first for the industry.
The first flight of an authorized BVLOS drone near the Kieldrecht lock was reportedly controlled from a Command and Control Center located within the port by representatives from a variety of regulatory authorities, including EASA and Eurocontrol.

The operational authorization is based on a new Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) framework that was developed by Skeydrone and was approved by the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority as well as the European Union Aviation Safety Agency.
In the coming weeks and months, the D-Hive network will develop to its full potential and become fully operational.
