DJI, renowned for its civilian drones and imaging tech, has unveiled the DJI Mic 3, a compact wireless microphone that promises superior sound capture for content creators, including those pairing it with drone footage. This latest addition to the OsmoAudio ecosystem builds on prior models by supporting up to four transmitters and eight receivers, enabling seamless group recordings or multi-camera setups essential for dynamic drone videography.

Compact Design Tailored for Mobility

The DJI Mic 3 transmitter tips the scales at just 16 grams (0.56 ounces), making it discreet and easy to wear during drone shoots in varied environments. Creators can adjust the microphone angle using a detachable, rotating clip, which accommodates magnetic or clip-on attachments for flexible positioning. Windscreens come in five colors, allowing users to blend the device with clothing or surroundings without compromising audio.

This design supports on-the-go recharging via an all-in-one charging case that stores two transmitters and one receiver. The case even accommodates windscreens and magnetic clips intact, simplifying transitions between locations for drone pilots capturing multi-scene aerial content.

DJI equips the Mic 3 with adaptive gain control, a first for the series, offering two modes to handle volume fluctuations. Quick charging yields two hours from five minutes, and a full charge takes 50 minutes. Power-saving modes, including auto-sleep and auto-off, conserve energy, ensuring drone pilots can focus on creation without frequent interruptions.

Seamless Integration Across Devices

Mic 3 connects directly to DJI’s OsmoAudio ecosystem, including Osmo 360, Osmo Action 5 Pro, Osmo Action 4, and Osmo Pocket 3, without a receiver—ideal for minimizing gear when combining with drones. For broader compatibility, it includes a locking 3.5mm TRS output, 3.5mm TRRS monitoring port, and USB-C port, plus Bluetooth smartphone linking.
