At Commercial UAV Expo 2026 in Las Vegas, I sat down with Gabriel Guglielmi, Vice President of Global Product Management at Infinite Electronics. The company is a privately held US firm that owns 19 different companies, and the common thread between them is that they all provide high-performance connectivity components for many industries, including drones and counter-drones.
19 Companies Across the US and Europe
Part of the group is in Europe and part is in the United States. Of the 19 companies, 11 are originally US companies and eight are European, but most of them sell globally.
When I asked what brought Infinite Electronics to Commercial UAV Expo, Guglielmi pointed to the obvious: unmanned systems, drones, and counter-drones are a fast-growing market, with a lot of money being injected by government, by private individuals, and by commercial companies. “We are here to support that market,” he said.
At the same time, the US is building a supply chain around drones and counter-drones, and Infinite Electronics wants to be one of its key partners, helping drone makers and counter-drone makers build their systems.
NDAA-Compliant Components From Antenna to Payload
In recent years there has been a big push to bring production back to the United States, and a lot of drones now have to be NDAA compliant in order to be used by the government. I asked Guglielmi how the company’s products fit into that.
All of the products Infinite Electronics makes are NDAA compliant, he told me. The company is also bringing some production domestically. That has its challenges, but the direction is clear: the US having its own domestic supply chain, Europe having its own, and China and Asia having theirs.
To show how the parts fit together, the booth had a drone on display. Infinite Electronics doesn’t make drones, but it makes the connectivity products around them. It starts with the antenna receiving the RF signals. There are different types of antennas depending on form factor and frequency range, and the company’s latest one comes in different variants, one of which resists jamming so that the drone keeps its GPS signal.
That matters because losing GPS has become one of the problems the industry faces. When a drone loses GPS, people don’t know where it is, and it could hit a power line or crash into a critical facility.
From the antenna, the signal goes through cable assemblies, with different types of cable and different connectors depending on the application. And because a drone typically carries a payload, whether that’s a camera, a lidar unit, or something else, Infinite Electronics also provides the RF connectivity that goes to the payload, along with USB connections.
Hardware That Lets Radios Hop Frequencies
In conflict zones around the world, jamming drones and trying to get through jamming systems has become a cat-and-mouse game. Some drones I’ve seen use AI to lock onto targets, while others use fiber-optic wires. So I asked what Infinite Electronics does to make the radio signal as resistant to jamming as possible.
The company doesn’t do any software, Guglielmi explained. Everything it does is hardware. What it provides, for example, are antennas with a large band. To resist spoofing, the radio or the board inside the drone hops frequencies very quickly so that the jamming system cannot follow. Infinite Electronics’ job is to provide components that manage a larger band of RF signals, so that the drone maker can change frequency very quickly, depending on the environment and depending on the jamming.
Counter-Drone Demand Now Outpaces Drones
When I asked what I should have asked but hadn’t, Guglielmi steered the conversation to counter-drone technology and walked me through a second mock-up on the booth.
Again, Infinite Electronics doesn’t build counter-drone systems, but the mock-up showed where its parts go. At the top sit the antennas that take in all the RF signals. Here you have to think about direction and frequency range, because you need to detect where the drone is around you. Cables then run down into the boxes, and those can be RF cables or fiber optic, with different types of connectors depending on the use case. On the side, the mock-up carried different protocols, including USB and Ethernet.
Everything feeds into a box with a backplate, power, and a fan. Customers put in whatever they need, such as a computer that processes all the information coming in from the antennas. From there it goes to command and control, which decides what to do with the drone: Is it a threat or not? Should it be countered, or should you just wait?
Guglielmi brought up the FIFA World Cup, where an FBI-led task force took down 700 drones. I added that recently in Leipzig, drones were coming into airports, and that it has been a hot topic in Europe and in the US as well.
Counter-drone also comes up in border control, he said. It’s easier to deploy this type of equipment than to build a wall or station people along it. From Infinite Electronics’ perspective, counter-drone is seeing even higher demand than drones.
One Supplier, Same-Day Shipping, Fast Scale
I asked whether the 19 companies under the umbrella are all mostly focused on the hardware required for connectivity. Guglielmi confirmed that Infinite Electronics is a hardware company. It does a bit of low-level firmware, but it is mostly hardware.
The mock-ups on the booth are there to show customers what’s possible, to get the reaction of “Oh, we can do all this?” One advantage he highlighted is that customers can buy from Infinite Electronics products they would otherwise have to source from multiple different suppliers. The goal is to make it easy: one point to buy all the components.
Most of those components are available for same-day or next-day shipment, or in less than a week. The company can also scale up production quickly through internal facility partners. In this market, a design is turned on and a few months later it’s in production, so time to market is critical. People are now counting in days and weeks, where before they counted in years.
Regional Supply Chains Replace the Global One
The urgency and the frequency have gone up a lot with all the conflicts, so I asked how the US NDAA requirements compare to the requirements some European countries have, and how the company deals with matching different requirements around the world.
Guglielmi had also been at XPONENTIAL Europe in Düsseldorf, and he said what’s happening is clear: the supply chain is becoming regional. There’s a supply chain for the US or North America. There has to be a supply chain for Europe, eventually including North Africa. Then China is its own supply chain, and Asia is its own supply chain. What used to be a global supply chain is now getting sliced into regional supply chains, and to be a player you have to cope with the different requirements.
Having companies in both Europe and the United States helps. In Europe, Infinite Electronics appears as a European company, and in the US the same. The company also plays in China, in the more commercial market.
