DJI released aircraft firmware v01.00.1000 for the DJI Mini 3 Pro on October 20, 2026, the drone’s first update since July 23, 2024. DJI’s release notes say only “Fixed some known issues.” It ships alongside DJI Fly v1.21.16 and arrived on the same day as firmware for several other DJI drones, including the Mini 2 and the Mavic Air 2.
The Mini 3 Pro has had 13 firmware releases since it launched in May 2022. The last one to add a feature, support for DJI Goggles 2, Goggles Integra and RC Motion 2, came out on April 25, 2023.
DJI Updated Two Mini 3 Pro Controllers but Not the RC-N1 Firmware
The October release moves the DJI RC Pro to v03.02.0900 and the DJI RC to v01.03.2600. The RC-N1 firmware DJI lists for the Mini 3 Pro stays at v04.14.0700, the version it first listed on November 8, 2023, nearly three years ago.
The loaner DJI sent DroneXL for our May 2022 Mini 3 Pro flights along the Hudson River came with both the RC-N1, which uses a phone as its screen, and the DJI RC. An owner with that kit will find an update for the DJI RC and none for the RC-N1. If the update fails, DJI’s release notes say to restart the aircraft, the remote controller and DJI Fly or DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series) and try again.
The Mini 3 Pro’s Feature Updates Stopped After Its First Year
DJI added features to the Mini 3 Pro in eight releases between May 2022 and April 2023. Since September 2023 it has shipped five more. Four of them say only that known issues were fixed, and the fifth optimized compatibility with Huawei Mate 60 series phones.
DroneXL covered the larger releases as they shipped, including the October 2022 update that brought US Remote ID and wide-angle lens support, and Air Photography’s look at the March 2023 update that added Gain and Expo tuning. In July 2024 DJI shipped two fix-only releases 12 days apart, and we reported the second one the day it came out. Then the release notes went quiet for nearly 27 months.
An FCC Waiver Running to 2029 Lets US Owners Install the Update
The FCC’s Public Notice DA 26-454, released May 8, 2026, lets foreign-made drones authorized before the December 22, 2025 Covered List addition keep receiving software and firmware updates until at least January 1, 2029. The Mini 3 Pro has been sold in the US since 2022 and qualifies.
The notice limits the waiver to updates that mitigate harm to US consumers. Without it, the FCC’s prohibition would reach even routine Class I changes, which DroneXL explained when the agency extended the waiver in May.
DroneXL’s Take
A used Mini 3 Pro is still a sensible buy for a US pilot, as long as the buyer pays for the drone as it flies today. The Covered List blocks new FCC authorizations for foreign-made drones, and the Mini 5 Pro doesn’t have a page on DJI’s US download center. This release shows DJI still maintains the Mini 3 Pro nearly four and a half years after launch. The release history shows its last new feature arrived in April 2023. I’d price a used one with both facts in mind and expect bug fixes when DJI gets around to them, not new flight modes.
