FPV drone pilot shoots next-level wedding video

Let's face it, a lot of wedding videos are actually pretty dull. The bride and groom get dressed, family and friends gather, then finally comes the yes, the cutting of the cake, followed by the necessary obligatory images of the reception. However, FPV drone pilot Andy Lawrence takes a very different approach: his piloting skills make for a very refreshing wedding video. Check it out.

Admittedly, it's not a real wedding video. The drone video was commissioned by Elmore Court, a popular wedding venue in Great Britain. The mansion was built in the 13th century and opened its doors in 2013 as a wedding venue. But disaster struck in 2020: due to the corona crisis, it was not possible to get married at this beautiful location for a long time. However, Elmore Court will open its doors again on June 21. To celebrate, a video crew was hired to make a special promotional video, in the form of an FPV wedding video. The result is more than successful.

“By enlisting the support of wedding vendors, friends, family, and 30 extras as so-called wedding guests, Elmore managed to shoot the video over the course of a few hours. After several attempts, we had a version that everyone was happy with. The 150-second one-shot video uses the first-person-view (FPV) skills of veteran pilot Andy Lawrence, who normally works for Top Gear and The Grand Tour. The images take you on a journey through this picturesque rural location in South Gloucestershire. The video starts with a bird's eye view of the guests arriving. You are then taken through a series of intricate maneuvers through the main house, grounds, Gillyflower ballroom, and kitchens of the estate.”

‘Challenging project' for FPV drone pilot

Drone pilot Andy Lawrence looks back on this production with satisfaction: “This has to be one of the most fun and expansive projects of my career to date. The challenge of flying the drone 500 meters in and out of a 750-year-old building with walls over a meter thick in places has to be one of the most challenging projects I've ever done.”
