Missing DJI Mavic 3 firmware updates may limit some of the drone’s key features at launch date
Through one of our sources, we have learned that missing DJI Mavic 3 firmware updates that would add promised key features to the drone, might not be ready at the launch date.
Future DJI Mavic 3 firmware updates may limit drone features at launch date
If true, it would mean that the functionality and features of the DJI Mavic 3 might be restricted or simply not be present at the launch date because of firmware updates that are not ready yet.
On Twitter one of our sources shared the following:
Teachers, there is an urgent notice. The smart function of the new product was originally written in 3-4 weeks. The time has changed. Please agree to modify it to: It will be implemented through a firmware upgrade in January 2022. Please pay attention to the official update information. Please inform the store partners who have completed the training in time.
Why is there no time-lapse photography and one-click short film?
The following features are still being polished and will be launched one month after release:
Timelapse photography, MasterShots. ActiveTrack. One-click short film will be online 2 months after release.
If accurate, it seems that this message would have come directly from DJI to its trainers who teach and update the official DJI resellers. And it would indicate that after the launch of the DJI Mavic 3 we would see at least one but maybe even two more firmware updates to bring all the promised features to the drone.
The message indicates that timelapse photography, MasterShots, ActiveTrack, and possibly more features might not arrive until January 2022. If true this would be quite a disappointment for an expensive and highly-anticipated new DJI drone.
Let us know what you think and would this News affect your purchasing decision? Would you go ahead and buy the expensive new DJI Mavic 3 knowing that key features might not be available to you until the new year? Let us know in the comments below.

No way would I buy and have to accept an IOU on a firmware update. Appears they are rushing to get this drone out. Skydio has already started their Black Friday sales event with $400 of the Skydio 2.
