Exciting times for FPV enthousiast and DJI Mini users. Three unreleased drones have been spotted in the wild: the DJI Mini 5 Pro, the DJI Avata 3 and (apparently overlooked by everyone) the DJI Neo 2. Earlier than expected, these drones are set to be released this summer. Following up the prosumer DJI Mavic 4 leaks, DJI seems to be continuing to push out products like hot cakes this year. Let me walk you through it:

DJI MINI 5 PRO in production

Strong rumors and a first look on the DJI Mini 5 Pro emerged past December when a frontal picture of a defaced DJI Mini 5 was seen on chinese social media. Sources told me they expected the Mini 5 to come out in September 2025. Recently, also another blurry picture of the Mini 5 popped up giving us some room to speculated on the matter:

Without specification sheets, it’s all guesswork and asking my sources. But on first glance there are some interesting improvements we can already spot in these images:

DJI MINI 5 PRO in official FCC filings

Fast forward 5 months since the first picture. DJI completed their DJI Mini 5 prototypes and started mass production of their most popular drone series ever. What immediately stands out on this FCC filing is the whopping 4680mAh 33.5Wh. That’s a huge upgrade from the DJI Mini 4 Pro 2690 mAh 18.9Wh batteries giving the Mini 4 a stable 30 minutes of flight time.

I highly doubt that this can still become another sub 250g drone. Bigger camera, bulkier design and a 30% increase of battery power, it’s almost impossible. Also, and last on the Mini 5… the timing of this FCC filing seems a bit weird to me, I was pretty convinced the DJI Mini 5 is set for September 2025, not July or August. Is DJI rushing things again?

DJI Avata 3, its coming…

To be completely honest, this is the first time we see a leak on the DJI Avata 3. I heard the name drop a couple of times, but without visual evidence everyone can say anything at this point. But let have a better look on this pixelated screen grab:

Dji Avata 3 Seen In A Video On Chinese Social Media. Compared To The Dji Avata 2.

  • The DJI Avata 3 will have the same form factor as the Avata 2.
  • Camera sensor is improved and larger, gimbal can reach further up, implying the drone can also fly faster.
  • Battery placement has been moved further back, creating more room for the nested camera, making it possible to remove the orange bumpers which the Avata 2 had.
  • Last but not least it appears DJI has finally switched to a 4 blade propeller setup, creating a more powerful and efficient FPV experience.

DJI NEO 2, hiding in plain sight

While everybody is looking at the DJI Avata 3 in the leaked video above. I noticed something else about the little DJI NEO with two strapped batteries on its back. Because that little thing in the left corner of the video, ladies and gentlemen, is not a regular DJI NEO. Those new double layered propellor guards and white stickers tells us it’s the first leaked prototype of the DJI Neo 2. To demonstrate my point I removed some of the distractions in the picture below and placed a Neo 1 next to it:

DJI Osmo Nano (Action 2 revival) and DJI Mic 3

In other exciting news, we learned that DJI is also continuing their attack on the action cam market. The OSMO360 info recently got leaked and registered once again in foreign databases, and yesterday we also found some interesting FCC filings of a new DJI Action 2 successor, called the DJI OSMO Nano.

Fcc Filing Of The Dji Osmo Nano. Accompanied By The Dji Mic 3 Filings.

The FCC filing reminds me of the DJI Action 2 which was released nearly 4 years ago. The smallest DJI action camera had a lot of overheating problems and was discontinued soon after. You can still buy it, but it wasn’t a huge success. Even though, DJI apparently decided they want to have another go at it and patented the trademark ‘OSMO NANO’ for ‘wearable camera’s’ on February 20th, 2025. In the FCC filings we find registration of a camera (ON001) and a display (OD001) hinting it will have the same configuration as the Action 2.

With the DJI OSMO NANO release, the DJI MIC 3 and DJI OSMO 360 is also expected. Sadly no date can be set for any of these products. It’s not rare for a DJI product to go missing these days and Osmo Products (a different company line) tend to take at least 6 months between a FCC notification and actual release.

Leak expectations for coming months

For those saving up their money to buy the DJI Avata 3 or a new DJI Neo 2. I am afraid you have to be patient. With only leaks showing a prototype, it could take a month or two -maybe three- before we can expect a teaser, trailer of specification leaks. On the other hand, the DJI Mini 5 Pro might be turning up earlier than expected. July isn’t out of the question and with the FCC filed this soon, I expect to find early webshop leaks and pictures in about 2-4 weeks.

Whatever happens, I’ll be here updating you on DJI leaks. Cheers! Jasper
