Early Wednesday morning, law enforcement was assisted by a police drone to catch a murder suspect who was hiding in a Rapid Valley creek, according to a news release from the Rapid City Police Department and Pennington County Sheriff’s Office.
Last Friday, a DJI Matrice 210 RTK delivered a package to the world’s largest ship, the ‘Pioneering Spirit’ from Allseas. The drone delivery is part of a project organized by Dutch Drone Delta, Allseas, and the Port of Rotterdam Authority, to test how unmanned aircraft can be used to improved transportation within the port of Rotterdam.
The French government plans to buy 651 drones for surveillance purposes, details of which are outlined in a tender worth almost €4M ($4.3M USD). The tender, titled “Drones” was published on April 12th on the official bulletin of public procurement announcements. It comes from the Ministry of the Interior, via the Purchasing, Equipment and Logistics Service for Homeland Security.

Police around the world have started to use drones to warn the general public of the highly contagious Coronavirus. We have seen examples already in China, France, Spain, the U.S. and now also in Western Australia. The drones are mostly used to enforce social distancing and to warn people to stay inside.
