Just now, leaked photos surfaced on Twitter, showing a new camera possibly on a DJI Mavic 3 drone. Or at least that’s what the tweet would like us to think. However, there’s also a good chance that this is not a DJI Mavic 3 at all, but an older prototype of the DJI Mavic 2. Let’s take a closer look.
Back in August, we wrote that the new Mavic 3 would be delayed ‘until Trump is gone,’ based on information from inside the drone maker. Now, we have learned that even if President Trump leaves the office, the new Mavic 3 is unlikely to be released before the summer of 2021. Why? Well, keep reading.
Here are the latest DJI rumors on the DJI Ronin RS2, the Mavic 3, a new Mavic Mini 2, two DJI FPV drones, and the Osmo Action 2 and Osmo Pocket 2. This information comes directly from DJI‘s offices in China from a source that we have been working with for some time now. Believe it. Don’t believe it. I’ll leave that up to you.
Update 9/25/2020: DJI Osmo Pocket 2 will be released on October 20th, 2020.
The DJI Mavic 3 will be delayed ‘until Trump is gone’ says a source inside DJI. This is the information we have received today from one of the sources that we’ve worked with for a long time. Furthermore, this breaking news comes from very high within the Chinese DJI organization.
Update: see the official response from DJI below.
Ok – My sincere apologies. Somebody pointed out early this morning that the second photo in this post looks like a DJI Agras T16 and upon closer inspection, it does indeed. Forget the September 26th release date for the new DJI Mavic 3 drone for now. Somebody clearly photoshopped these photos together and fooled a number of people, including me. Sorry guys.
The Mavic 3 release date will be on September 26th, 2020, at 10 a.m. EST according to two leaked photos of the DJI announcement that I received just this afternoon.
Update: Mavic 3 release date is fake news and shows a DJI T16 Agras instead Sorry guys… (more…)
In the response from DJI on my previous ‘Game of Drones’ article, it says that the drone maker has ‘more exciting plans for the remainder of 2020‘. One of these plans might well include a successor to the DJI Mavic 2 Pro/Zoom, the eagerly awaited DJI Mavic 3. Let’s take a look at what would be a nice set of innovations for this new foldable drone. A DJI Mavic 3 feature wishlist if you will.
Here’s a quick update on the DJI Matrice 300 (or M300) and the Mavic 3. The M300 is obviously the successor to the DJI Matrice 200/210 drone and aimed at the commercial or enterprise drone market. This unmanned aircraft was originally planned to be launched earlier this year, but there have been some roadblocks along the way, not the least of which has been the coronavirus. So, the question is, where do we stand with the Matrice 300 and when can we expect this drone to hit the U.S. market? Let’s look at the latest information, we have been able to collect
Not too long ago, when I was still working for another news outlet, we reported on the first leaked photos of what appears to be the successor of the DJI Mavic Air, the DJI Mavic. This drone has been rumored to come in at a very competitive price of $799 and would have been introduced during the spring season. However, because of the ever-increasing severity of the Coronavirus, it has now been rumored that DJI decided to delay the introduction of this new folding drone until sometime later this year.
