Alphabet, Google's parent company. Wing began inside Google X and was spun out as a standalone Alphabet subsidiary, which is why our older coverage often calls it Google's Wing. That backing is a large part of why Wing could spend years flying in Australia before the US market was ready.

Wing has the broadest retail footprint in the US because of Walmart, whose stores put about 90% of Americans within 10 miles of a potential launch site. Amazon Prime Air runs a smaller number of markets with a larger 5-pound payload.

Yes, and we have covered it. A Wing delivery drone came down on power lines in Australia in 2022 and cut electricity to thousands of customers. A separate 2021 incident involved a raven attacking an aircraft in midair, which sounds comic but is a real operational hazard for low-altitude delivery flight.
