The DJI Go 4 app received an update yesterday, bringing the app to version 4.3.42. Unsurprisingly, the app does not receive any new features and DJI only mentions that some crashing issues have been addressed and the overall app stability has been improved.

DJI Go 4 app receives an update but no new features

On the iOS app store, you can see the version history of the DJI Go 4 app. This latest update is version 4.3.42 and it “fixes crashing issues and improves app stability.”

Interestingly, when you go back in time in the version history list, you will see that apart from the introduction of the Local Date Mode in December last year, DJI has not added any new features to the DJI Go 4 app.

All recent DJI drones, such as the DJI Mavic Air 2, and the DJI Mini 2 work with the new DJI Fly app. Only older drone models like the DJI Mavic 2 Pro/Zoom, Phantom 4 Pro, and others still use the DJI Go 4 app.

The lack of new features for the DJI Go 4 app is a clear indication that the app is on its way out.

  1. “…The lack of new features for the DJI Go 4 app is a clear indication that the app is on its way out.”
the Fly app is intended for the dji consumer drones, Its a reduced, more clean version of the Go 4 app. Saying that Go4 app is on its way out is like
saying that there will be no prosumer drones on the future. There will be a Mavic 3 and an Inspire 3 that probably will use DJI Go 4 app.
