We have all seen DJI’s slogan -The future of possible- but what’s clearly impossible for the multimillion dollar business is to keep anything a secret these days. After literally hundreds of pictures the still unreleased DJI Mavic 4 (Release May 13th) today my good friend Hakasushi went in the archives and discovered all technical geek-info and the quick start manual for the DJI Osmo 360.

A short history of DJI action camera’s

Do you remember the time when DJI had a Phantom 2 with a GoPro Hero 3 underneath? Neither do I, but I think it was at that moment (2013) that DJI decided to develop their own action camera to also get a slice of the action cam market.

It was only 6 years later when DJI introduced the Osmo Action combating the GoPRO Hero 6 at that time. And let’s be honest, yes the Osmo was cheaper than the GoPro, but it couldn’t compete with the perfect image quality of GoPro. DJI quickly decided to try something new with the Action 2, and although that small, it was an overheating disaster that didn’t last long… The story luckily changed with the DJI Osmo Action 3 where people started to appreciate the results and performance of a DJI action cam.

But wait, new player entered the game

While DJI was busy creating the DJI Osmo Action 3 to compete with the GoPro Hero 10. A little Chinese company called Arashi Vision Inc. was already creating impressive 360 degree camera systems since 2015. You might also know this company as Insta360. They successfully bypassed the GoPro Fusion (2018) camera with their superior Insta360 X2 in 2020, creating a small and user friendly 360 action camera.

Rumors of a DJI Osmo 360 late 2024

Fast forward to present day; GoPro still sells normal action camera’s like the GoPro 13 but recently switched to selling the cheap GoPro MAX 360 (349). A nice move of GoPro, but Insta360’s reaction was to quickly present their refined Insta360 X5 (at 549), also dropping the prices of the Insta360 X4 to 469. Meanwhile, still nobody heard anything on the DJI Osmo 360, so I was asking myself: will they even go through with it at this point?

On October 18, we finally received proof DJI was developing their own 360 camera. The DJI Osmo 360 was seen in the FCC records and within a day, drawings were shared. Today, 6 months later, my friend HakaSushi shared all pictures and even parts of the manual with the world. A few features: It uses the same battery as the Osmo action 3, 4 and 5. They copied the mirror design of the X3 and it has practically the same design as the GoPro Max 360.

Dji Osmo 360 Photos Leaked, Is Dji Still In Time To Enter The 360 Game? 1

DJI OSMO 360 coming soon, right?

Although we can all speculate on specs and launch dates, I am not sure if DJI will even enter the market with this camera. I can’t find any early leaks on web stores, multiple sources never received it and therefore it’s even a better hidden secret than the DJI Mavic 4 or DJI Mini 5. Pricewise they can’t offer it any dollar above the GoPro Max 360, which is currently 349 at Amazon. And recent Trump tariffs will annihilate the chance of success of selling DJI camera’s in the States.

That’s all for today folks.  Special thanks to HakaSushi for exposing these pictures. Next up: more Mavic 4 leaks. Cheers, Jasper

  1. I´m sure that the X5 is far better than any 360 cam “made by DJI” will ever be. Just because of the brilliant Insta360 App. Compare it to the poor “Mimo” App…
