Zipline Drones Boost Rwanda’s Livestock Breeding by 80%

Drone delivery pioneer Zipline has demonstrated transformative impact in Rwanda’s livestock sector, improving artificial insemination success rates from 48.8% to between 70-80% through precision-timed drone deliveries of temperature-sensitive breeding materials, according to data released by the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB) and Land O’Lakes Venture37.

The program, operating across eight Rwandan districts between October 2023 and June 2024, has revolutionized artificial insemination services in Rwanda’s agricultural sector. The initiative has generated approximately $13 million in revenue through increased pork production, demonstrating the significant economic impact of improved agricultural logistics.
