A drone pilot from Israel was recently flying his new DJI Mavic Air 2 when something very special happened. A flock of migrating pelicans approached from a distance. You can see how the animals arrive at ease and keep turning in circles using the thermals. And, the drone captures a truly spectacular video of the migrating pelicans
With a small firmware update (V02.00.1100) for the DJI Mavic Air 2, the new Mini 2 has been added. So, now you can select which drone you’d like the controller to connect with before you start flying. This allows you to use one controller for multiple DJI drones in a similar fashion as to what’s already possible with the DJI Smart Controller.
Now that almost all the specifications of the yet-to-be-released DJI Mini 2 are known, it seemed to make sense to compare this latest DJI drone to the previous models. Here’s the DJI Mini 2 compared to the DJI Mavic Mini, Mavic Air 2, Mavic Air, Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom, and the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0.

After some confusing firmware updates for the DJI Mavic Air 2 last week, it seems that DJI now has cleaned up its act and got everybody on the same new firmware version v01.00.0340. This version offers a new 4K Zoom Mode and some other cool new features such as improved APAS, 4K in Hyperlapse, Optimized FPV mode for the gimbal, and more. Check out the videos below.
On June 15th, we wrote that Litchi would likely be available for the DJI Mavic Mini and the Mavic Air 2 later this summer. We thought now would be a good time to check in with the app developer and see where things stand. Currently, Litchi for the Mavic Mini is in beta-testing and they’re waiting for DJI to update the Mavic Air 2 SDK.
New DJI Mavic Air 2 features improve the cinematic capabilities and offer new obstacle avoidance options on DJI’s latest drone. These features are not available to all users unfortunately and it is somewhat unclear as to why that is. I have them on my DJI Mavic Air 2, so let’s take a closer look.
DJI Airsense technology might have well saved the day. In this video below you can see the shadow of a rapidly approaching airplane over the treetops as the drone pilot brings his DJI Mavic Air 2 down quickly. Moments earlier he had received a warning in the DJI Fly app of the approaching plane.
Here’s the first teardown video we’ve seen of the new DJI Mavic Air 2 drone. iFixit created the video and shows us the inside of ‘DJI’s smartest drone ever.’ I was curious to see if the Mavic Air 2 has an Ambarella processor like the DJI Mavic Mini. However, it seems that the processor has been de-branded. It only shows H6, which could indicate it is an AllWinner processor. If you know what processor is shown here, let us know in the comments below.
