As you can see in these two videos, the DJI Mini 2 cold-weather performance is nothing to sneeze at. The just-launched mini drone is rated to operate in temperatures ranging from 32° to 104°F (or 0° to 40°C) but can handle even colder temperatures Check it out.
At the end of 2019, DJI introduced the Mavic Mini, the first full-fledged camera drone weighing less than 250 grams. With the successor the DJI Mini 2, the Chinese dronemaker has retained all the right things from the first generation Mavic Mini and has made significant improvements on a number of fronts. As a result, the DJI Mini 2 is not only intended for novice drone pilots: especially after the introduction of European drone regulations, the Mini 2 is also interesting for professionals.
The DJI Mini 2 is an awesome little drone that is featherlight but as a result, lacks some noticeable features found on other DJI drones such as obstacle avoidance and DJI’s ActiveTrack. However, if you use the QuickShots on the DJI Mini 2, you can actually trick the drone into actively tracking you.
With a small firmware update (V02.00.1100) for the DJI Mavic Air 2, the new Mini 2 has been added. So, now you can select which drone you’d like the controller to connect with before you start flying. This allows you to use one controller for multiple DJI drones in a similar fashion as to what’s already possible with the DJI Smart Controller.
The DJI Fly app received an update with the arrival of the DJI Mini 2 drone yesterday. The new update adds QuickTransfer that allows you to download photos and videos from the DJI Mini 2 directly to your phone at 20 MB/s without the use of the remote controller. Furthermore, there is an Enhanced Photo function added, the ability to trim video clips, and more.
Another day, another retailer. Today, it is the Swiss version of Best Buy, Media Markt that lists the DJI Mini 2 prior to its official release early in November. The listing confirms that the DJI Mini 2 will have DNG/RAW for still photography. Oh, and we’ve seen on Twitter that the Mini is also said to have 100Mbps for 4K video. And it will have a Follow-Me mode. Wow!
Now that almost all the specifications of the yet-to-be-released DJI Mini 2 are known, it seemed to make sense to compare this latest DJI drone to the previous models. Here’s the DJI Mini 2 compared to the DJI Mavic Mini, Mavic Air 2, Mavic Air, Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom, and the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0.
Hat tip to P. Morrell!
Updated with new DNG/RAW info and 4K at 100Mbps!
Today, a second DJI Mini 2 unboxing video hits Youtube! No flying of the new drone, unfortunately since the DJI Fly app doesn’t recognize the drone yet. At this point, I’m not even sure if DJI is trying to stop the leaks anymore.
“Shenzhen, the DJI ship is taking on water!”
In today’s video about the DJI Mini 2, it was shown that the new lightweight drone will use the exact same remote controller as the DJI Mavic Air 2. This should mean that the DJI Mini 2 also works with the DJI Smart Controller. Or at least, DJI can make it work through a firmware update if they so chose to.
Hello DJI, we respectfully request RAW capability for the DJI Mini 2. It would make the Mini 2 a truly capable little drone for us drone pilots. It would not add any weight to the aircraft, and you would sell a lot more drones. Sounds like a win-win, doesn’t it?
Thanks to Our Beatific World who was able to buy the new DJI Mini 2 at a local Best Buy we now know all the specs of this new DJI drone. As was widely expected, the new unmanned aircraft has 4K, but it also has OcySync 2.0! This is awesome news and was not expected at all!
Best Buy proofs to be a better leaker than OsitaLV! Today, a video appeared on YouTube showing somebody simply buying the new DJI Mini 2 at a Best Buy store. Luckily for us drone fans this person also created a video of the buying of the DJI Mini 2 and unboxing and posted it to YouTube.
The DJI Mavic Mini 2 is mentioned in the terms and conditions of the fall promotion of the Chinese website BiliBili. The soon-to-be-released DJI drone is referred to as the DJI Mini 2 next to the DJI Pocket 2.
